He graduated from Wesleyan University, with a degree in history and has spent over two decades working in journalism, as a writer, an editor, and a cultural critic. Matt Ashare is an adjunct professor of journalism and media studies in the department of communications at Randolph College, a private liberal arts college located in Lynchburg, Virginia, and formerly known as Randolph-Macon Woman's College.
